Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator who works for NBC News in Washington D.C., is a television anchor. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) and was stationed which was based in Washington DC. Within two years she joined NBC News as a Washington correspondent. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the head of the congressional reporters. She was made Chief White House correspondent in 1992. As well as the Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also host of the show. Mitchell was a panelist in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell covered the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell covered a wide range of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as fiscal tax reforms, and the arms control. Mitchell traveled together with Ronald Reagan several times to summits and debate topics including the Iran Contra controversy.
